Cruisin' On This Groove - Desert Storm Pen Pals Marry

(Lem Genovese)
The unvarnished truth is that I married my Desert Storm pen pal. We didn't meet until I got back from the 1st Persian Gulf War in May of 1991.
This is the wedding song I wrote for her on my then, brand new Taylor Kottke model custom maple 12 string guitar. It took the Taylor guitar custom shop a YEAR to build it and it got delivered the DAY before the wedding.

In that Decade of Silence -
it was FAITH that pulled us through.
Conspicuous in its absence
the Music without a clue.

Those letters of inspiration -
finally falling into place,
from that Desert isolation,
a new smile upon her face.

With all the bases covered,
its time to make our move
and it looks like extra innings
while we're cruisin' on this groove
my Love --
we're cruisin' on this groove.

This may sound like "the movies" -
we swear its unvarnished truth,
a friendship forged in those fires,
this marriage the final proof.

We're heading for the Big Leagues,
grippin' it by the seams,
better late than never -
its our shot @ the Field of Dreams.

With all the bases covered -
its time to make our move,
and it looks like extra innings
while we're crusin' on this groove
we're cruisin' on this groove
( my Love )
we're cruisin' on the groove.
