Lem Genovese: Music

Another Second Chance - Reconciliation & Civility

(Lem Genovese)
Musically, this song was inspired by Eric Clapton's "Old Love". Lyrically it gets to the heart of the matter in what's truly important in a relationship that lasts. Making excuses, being selfish and keeping score is a recipe for disaster.
On a larger level, as a Nation, our
ability to have a legitimate dialogue on those issues so important to our mutual future has been damaged by a lack of civility,
mutual respect and finger pointing.
I'm glad this last election proved the wisdom of this observation.

If there's no rest for the wicked,
Then, who's left to fan those flames ?
If there's no hope left between us
Then, who's left to shift the blame ?

When there's fingers being pointed,
All the scapegoats look the same -
When it comes to second chances
We refuse to play those games...
We refuse to play those games.

There's more to the present
Than waiting on a lucky break.
There's more to the future
Than repeating past mistakes.

There's more to our life now,
Than locking all the doors -
There's more to our life now,
Than merely keeping score
Than merely keeping score.

If there's no rest for the wicked,
Then who's left to fan those flames ?
If there's no hope left between us
Then, who's left to shift the blame

When there's fingers being pointed --
All the scapegoats look the same.
When it comes to second chances
We refuse to play those games
We refuse to play those games
